We
are 2 sisters in our mid-late twenties with degrees in Fine Arts & Languages and a
lifetime of experience with animals - cats, dogs, horses, rabbits, mice,
guinea pigs, birds, fish, turtles, and more. We have been designing and
sewing our own clothes for many years and it has come as no surprise to
anyone who knows us that our skills and careers inevitably diverted in the
direction of pet clothing. (Our teachers and parents had expectations of
us becoming a veterinarian and an interpreter for the United Nations but
we have a tendency
to be unconventional.) We come from a family of
artists, musicians and passionate cooks. Hence you may find references to
us as Franga Musicians, our former eBay ID (we are also classical musicians).
We are always happy to work with International customers, and are
available for customer service in German, French, and Spanish. We
have been selling on eBay and our former web site FrangaMusicians.com for
over 2 years and we are constantly improving on old and developing new
designs.
The reason we decided to go into this business is so that we would be able spend time with our dogs (instead of leaving them alone at home while we went out to work) and to save enough to attend graduate school in the near future to further our studies.
The Beginning
When we decided to start our own business on June 30, 2005, our original intent was to make and sell vintage- and Victorian-style clothing for people of the two-legged variety. During that period, we were reading the Mary Poppins novels by P.L. Travers in which we came upon a mention of a Dachshund wearing a sailor jacket, and have been side-tracked into designing and making clothing for four-legged people.
We had been making our own clothes for several years, a serious hobby which began in our college days when we made a ball gown for a school function entirely by hand (2001); we soon acquired a sewing machine and have been making our own clothes since then. After discovering eBay in June 2005, our hobby became a business and we made our debut on eBay on July 24, 2006, first starting with dog Tail Coats, then Dresses, Angel Wings Harnesses, Star Wars Jedi style hooded robes, and more. Our line of products quickly expanded to include horse costumes such as Medieval Style Barding or Caparisons, Unicorn Browbands, Extended Saddle Blankets with Medieval Heraldry Emblems, Bear Hug Saddle Blankets and more.
We soon came to find that whenever we listed a new design for sale, requests for varying colors or styles inevitably followed, so we expanded our services to include custom orders, wherein our customers could request their preferred color, style, material, etc. We have also worked with customers who had specific design ideas in mind, but could not find it elsewhere. It has been our pleasure to develop a rapport with all our clientele who have come from across the United States as well as parts of Europe, and hope to continue to do so through our new website.

The Present & Near Future
Although we have deviated from human clothing, we do intend to expand into that category with an emphasis on historical fashions from Medieval, Elizabethan, Victorian, Edwardian and other prominent eras. We also have immediate plans for a Home Decoration category wherein we will offer original artwork in a medium suitable for découpage onto walls & furniture.
We have numerous plans for our pet and horse categories as well, including fashions and costumes for the next St. Patrick's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Holiday Season.
